Description:

Based on Congressional intent, eligibility for funding under this program will be **limited to public and private owners/operators of fixed route, intercity bus services using over-the-road buses.**

Intra-city and charter/tour bus services **are not eligible** for funding under the FY 2005 IBSGP.

For purposes of the FY 2005 IBSGP, an over-the-road bus means a vehicle designed for long-distance transportation of passengers, characterized by integral construction with an elevated passenger deck located over a baggage compartment and at least 35 feet in length with a capacity of more than 30 passengers. $10,000,000 is available in ***designated urban areas*** to provide financial assistance to public and private owners/operators of fixed route, intercity bus services to improve security for operators and passengers.

The Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) was transferred to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) when the agency was established.
